Blotato vs Publer: AI-Native Creation vs Polished Scheduling

July 15, 2026 · By Sabrina Ramonov

Blotato vs Publer: is AI creation core or bolted on? Compare real generated output and per-platform posting for creators in 2026.

Blotato vs Publer comparison showing the Blotato mascot and the Publer logo with Sabrina Ramonov

Blotato vs Publer gets settled by one sentence on Publer’s own help site, and it is Publer being refreshingly honest. They describe AI Assist as “a complimentary addition to the Business plan.”

Complimentary. An addition. That is a company telling you exactly where AI sits in its product, and they are not wrong to say it. Publer’s AI runs on OpenAI’s models, and you can even connect your own OpenAI account and pay OpenAI directly instead of paying Publer for prompts.

None of that is a scandal. Publer has been building since 2012, bootstrapped, and the scheduler they built in that time is one of the best you can buy. But if your bottleneck is making the content rather than queuing it, where the AI sits decides how much the tool actually does for you.

Blotato vs Publer: At a Glance

Publer is the better pick if: Your content already exists and the job is getting it out reliably. Publer’s bulk CSV upload, Spintax recycling, RSS automations, and 13-platform reach make it one of the best queues you can buy, and it starts at $5/mo.

Blotato is the better pick if: The blank page is your bottleneck. If you need the post written, the image made, and the video generated before anything can be scheduled, Blotato starts where Publer’s AI stops. Its flat $29/mo Starter plan covers 20 accounts with unlimited AI writing, and no second bill from OpenAI.

Are Blotato and Publer Even the Same Category?

No, and the pricing pages give it away before the products do.

Publer is a scheduler that added AI. The evidence is structural, not editorial. Publer-funded AI prompts arrive only on Business, and the way onto AI from a cheaper plan is to bring your own OpenAI key and pay OpenAI yourself. Publer explains why in its own FAQ: keeping AI Assist on Business “by default” is how they cover the cost of the prompts. That is what AI looks like when it is a line item rather than the engine.

Blotato is a creation engine that publishes. AI writing is unlimited on the cheapest plan because it is the product, not an upsell.

So this is not scheduler versus scheduler. It is two different starting points. Publer starts at “I have a post.” Blotato starts at “I have an idea.” Whichever sentence you say more often is your answer, and for a lot of people that sentence is genuinely the first one.

There is a second fork worth naming this early, because it decides the tool for a whole category of reader. If you want an AI agent to run your posting, Blotato runs its own MCP server, so Claude, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork can write and publish through it directly. Publer has no MCP server at all.

The API story splits the same way. Blotato puts a REST API on every paid plan, starting at $29. Publer gates its API to Business and Enterprise, so the cheapest way in is $10/mo plus $7 for every account after the first. If you are building on top of the tool rather than clicking around inside it, that difference shows up on day one.

Who Publer Is Built For

Publer started in 2012 as a side project in Tirana, Albania, built to help the founder’s brother’s travel agency post on Facebook. It is still bootstrapped, with no outside funding. I mention that because it explains the product: the roadmap has clearly been driven by people who actually schedule posts.

The scheduling depth is the real story. Bulk-upload up to 500 posts from a CSV. Spintax-powered recycling that rewrites variations of an evergreen post so the queue does not read like a loop. Unlimited RSS automations. Auto-schedule, recurring posts, a browser extension, a mobile app. Publer reaches 13 platforms, including ones almost nobody else bothers with: Google Business Profile, Telegram, Mastodon, and WordPress.

Reviews reflect that. Sentiment on Trustpilot is strongly positive, and the praise is specific and consistent: the queue works, the calendar is intuitive, and it is cheap relative to Hootsuite or Buffer.

The complaints are just as consistent. Analytics depth is the most-cited weakness, with users pairing Publer with a dedicated analytics tool. And AI Assist gets described as producing “serviceable first drafts” that “read as generic,” requiring manual editing of every caption, which eats the time it was supposed to save.

If your content already exists, none of that matters and Publer is excellent.

Who Blotato Is Built For

Disclosure first: I am involved with Blotato as a creator and tester, so weigh what follows accordingly. Everything below is checkable on the live pricing page.

Blotato is built for creators and solopreneurs who have to produce net-new content across a lot of platforms every week. It publishes natively to 9 platforms and generates the writing, the images, faceless video, and ElevenLabs voiceovers as part of the same flow.

The other half of why I use it is automation. There is a REST API on every paid plan, official n8n and Make.com nodes, and an MCP server at mcp.blotato.com/mcp. Claude, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork can create and publish directly. That is the workflow I actually run: describe the week’s content in Claude, let it publish.

Look at the AI rows and the scheduling rows together and the picture resolves. Publer wins nearly every row about moving content. Blotato wins nearly every row about making it.

Where Publer Wins

The scheduling engine is better, and it is not particularly close. Bulk CSV up to 500 posts, auto-schedule, recurring posts, and a calendar people genuinely like. Blotato has nothing matching this depth.

Spintax-powered post recycling. Publer rewrites variations of an evergreen post so a recycled queue does not read like a rerun. Blotato does not do evergreen recycling at all. If your strategy is a library on rotation, this is your tool and Blotato is the wrong purchase.

13 platforms, including the ones nobody else supports. Google Business Profile, Telegram, Mastodon, and WordPress on top of the usual nine. If you post to a Google Business Profile, Publer does it and Blotato does not.

A real free plan. Three social accounts, 10 pending posts each, free forever. Blotato has no permanent free tier. If you have one or two accounts and modest volume, you may never need to pay Publer anything.

A genuinely low entry price. $5/mo monthly, or $4/mo billed annually, for one account. Nothing in Blotato’s lineup competes at that number, and Publer’s 14-day Business trial is double Blotato’s 7 days.

Unlimited RSS automations from the $5 tier. Auto-post from feeds without an add-on. This is a fair chunk of what people buy Zapier for.

Publer's plans: Free forever, Professional from $4/mo billed yearly, and Business from $8/mo billed yearly, with AI prompts and API access gated to Business.

Where Blotato Wins

AI writing is unlimited on the cheapest plan, and Blotato pays for it. Publer’s unlimited AI prompts arrive on Business. On Professional, the plan Publer itself describes as best for “solopreneurs and creators,” you get AI only by connecting your own OpenAI account and paying OpenAI per prompt. Blotato’s Starter includes unlimited AI writing at $29 with no second bill.

AI video and voiceovers exist at all. Publer’s AI generates text and images. It does not generate video. Blotato does faceless video with ElevenLabs voiceovers on every plan. If short-form video is part of your week, this row is the comparison.

The AI is the product, not a connected account. Publer’s own framing of AI Assist as “a complimentary addition” to a plan tier is the clearest statement of where AI sits over there. Blotato’s writing is trained on viral post patterns, and generation is the thing you are paying for.

MCP and native automation nodes. Blotato ships an MCP server plus official n8n and Make nodes. The automation section of Publer’s own integrations page lists two options: Zapier and their own link-in-bio tool. There is no official n8n listing for Publer and no Publer MCP server, so an AI agent has no direct way in.

The API is on every paid plan. Publer’s API is Business and Enterprise only. Blotato includes it on Starter at $29. One caveat worth knowing before you sign up to test this: Blotato’s free trial covers every feature except the API, and generating an API key ends the trial and starts your paid plan immediately. If you are here to test the API or MCP specifically, plan on starting the subscription rather than trialing it.

The Real Pricing Math

Publer’s headline price is per social account, and that shapes everything. Professional is $5/mo for one account, plus $4/mo for each additional account and $2/mo per extra member. Business is $10/mo for one account, plus $7/mo per additional account and $3/mo per member. Every tenth account and every tenth member is free. Yearly billing gives you two months free.

Entry$5/mo monthly, $4/mo annual (1 account, AI only via your own OpenAI key)$29/mo (20 accounts)
Mid$10/mo monthly, $8/mo annual (1 account, AI + API)$97/mo (40 accounts)
TopEnterprise, custom$499/mo (28,000 credits)

The entry-tier comparison, capability by capability. I am using Publer Business here because it is the cheapest plan where the AI turns on at all:

Blotato’s Starter plan costs $19/mo more than the cheapest Publer plan that includes AI, and it adds 19 accounts, video generation, and the automation surface Publer does not sell at any tier. Publer answers with a scheduling engine and a free plan Blotato has no answer for.

Honest caveats, because the per-account math cuts both ways:

For one or two accounts, Publer is dramatically cheaper. Business with two accounts is $17/mo against Blotato’s $29 flat. If you do not need video or MCP, paying more would be silly.

Publer’s free plan may be all you need. Three accounts and 10 pending posts each, forever, at zero. Blotato cannot match that.

If your content already exists, Blotato’s AI is money you are lighting on fire. A tool that generates video and voiceovers you never open is worse value than a great queue at $10.

If you need Google Business Profile, Telegram, Mastodon, or WordPress, this is over. Blotato does not publish to any of them.

Blotato pricing: Starter at $29/mo with 20 accounts and 1,250 AI credits, Creator at $97/mo, Agency at $499/mo.

Use Publer If

  • Your content already exists and you need it queued reliably
  • You run an evergreen library and want Spintax recycling
  • You post to Google Business Profile, Telegram, Mastodon, or WordPress
  • You manage one to three accounts and want the lowest possible bill
  • You want to bulk-upload hundreds of posts from a spreadsheet

Use Blotato If

  • The blank page is your bottleneck, not the queue
  • You want faceless video and voiceovers generated, not just captions
  • You want AI writing without paying for a higher tier to switch it on
  • You want Claude or an AI agent publishing through MCP
  • You publish across many platforms and want one flat price

Sabrina’s Final Take

I do not think Publer is a weak tool. I think it is a strong scheduler that added AI the way most schedulers did, and the bring-your-own-OpenAI option is them being honest about that rather than pretending otherwise.

So the answer really is about your bottleneck. If you have the content and need it out the door, Publer is better than Blotato at that job and costs a fraction of the price. Nothing in Blotato’s AI changes that.

If you are staring at an empty calendar wondering what to post, a better queue does not fix it. No amount of scheduling polish makes the content exist.

My honest advice: start on Publer’s free plan if you have a few accounts and content ready to go. If you keep hitting the wall at “what do I post,” try the Blotato 7-day trial and see whether a week of content actually gets made instead of just organized.

Blotato vs Publer FAQs

Is Blotato cheaper than Publer?

Rarely, and only at scale. Publer Business is $10/mo for one account plus $7/mo per additional, with every tenth account free, so ten accounts lands at $66/mo against Blotato’s flat $29 for 20. Up to three accounts Publer is clearly cheaper. The lines cross at four ($31 on Publer), and past that the per-account math climbs while Blotato’s flat rate does not. Publer also has a free plan, which Blotato does not.

Does Publer have AI video generation?

No. Publer’s AI Assist generates and rephrases text, generates images, drafts comment responses, and supports brand voices. There is no AI video generation. Blotato generates faceless video with ElevenLabs voiceovers on every paid plan, which is the single widest feature gap between the two tools.

Can I use Publer with n8n or Make.com?

Not officially. The automation section of Publer’s integrations page lists Zapier and their own Linkie link-in-bio, and n8n has no official Publer listing (a community-built node exists, which is a different thing from a supported integration). Blotato ships official n8n and Make nodes plus an API on every paid plan.

Which Publer plan do I need for AI?

Business, if you want Publer to cover the AI. It starts at $10/mo monthly or $8/mo billed annually for one account and includes unlimited AI prompts. On Free or Professional you can still use AI Assist, but only by connecting your own OpenAI account and paying OpenAI for every prompt. Publer’s own FAQ says AI Assist sits on Business “by default” precisely to cover prompt costs. Business is also the cheapest plan with API access and analytics.

Does Blotato have a free plan?

No. Blotato runs a 7-day free trial on every plan and collects a card at signup. Cancel before it ends and you are not charged. Stay, and your card is charged for your plan. Publer is more generous here: a free-forever tier with 3 social accounts (X excluded) and 10 pending scheduled posts per account, plus 7-day and 14-day trials on paid plans.

Which tool supports more social platforms?

Publer, at 13 to Blotato’s 9. Publer adds Google Business Profile, Telegram, Mastodon, and WordPress on top of the networks both tools cover. If any of those four are part of your distribution, Publer is the only one of the two that can post there.

Is Publer or Blotato better for agencies?

Depends on whether you are producing or distributing. Publer’s per-account pricing plus $3/mo members adds up across clients, but every tenth account and member is free, and the workspace model is built for it. Blotato’s Agency plan is $499/mo with 28,000 credits and dedicated support. If your agency’s work is scheduling client content that already exists, Publer. If you are producing the content itself, Blotato.
