InstantDM Pricing 2026: Which Social Media Plan Unlocks the API?

September 24, 2026 · By Sabrina Ramonov

InstantDM pricing in 2026: every social media DM plan, the hourly caps behind unlimited, and which tier includes the API an agent needs.

InstantDM pricing starts at $12 a month for one Instagram account, or $9.99 billed yearly, and runs to $199 a month for twenty accounts. The pricing page shows only two of its plans, Legend Pro and Trendsetter, and it opens on the Yearly toggle, so the $9.99 and $24.99 you see first are yearly-billed rates. InstantDM’s own setup guide documents four more paid plans the page never shows.

That gap matters most if an agent will run your DMs. Outside the 7-day trial, InstantDM’s API and its MCP server sit behind a plan gate, so the plan Claude needs is not the “Most Popular” one the page highlights. This post prices all six paid plans and the free plan, the hourly send caps behind the word “unlimited,” the credit model on the multi-account plans, and the cheapest documented paid route to API access.

Credit where it is due: InstantDM is a focused Instagram DM tool with a 7-day trial that needs no card, a live MCP server, and a $12 paid entry price for one account.

InstantDM Pricing: Every Plan in One List

  • Free: advertised at 500 a month, counted in credits, automations or DMs depending on the page. It is not shown on the pricing page. One Instagram account, no API.
  • Legend Pro: $12/month, or $9.99/month billed yearly ($119.88 a year). One account, 750 automations an hour on the pricing page. No API.
  • Trendsetter: $29.99/month, or $24.99/month billed yearly ($299.88 a year). One account, API and webhooks included.
  • Trendsetter Pro: $59.99/month, or $49.99/month billed yearly. One account, no hourly limit per the guide. Not on the pricing page.
  • Multi Starter, Multi Pro, Multi Ultra: $15, $99 and $199 a month ($14, $83 and $166 billed yearly) for 3, 10 and 20 accounts, all with API access. None of the three is on the pricing page, and only the how-to guide prices them.
  • The quirk worth knowing first: the page opens on its Yearly toggle, so the first price you see is a yearly-billed rate.

The Price You See First Is the Yearly One

InstantDM’s pricing page loads with “Yearly (2 Months Free)” already selected. The cards show $9.99 and $24.99 with no “/month” label, no “billed yearly” line, and no annual total. Click Monthly and the same cards read $12 and $29.99.

The default view: Yearly is pre-selected, so these are yearly-billed rates.

The same cards on the Monthly toggle.

The site-wide menu also labels the yearly figure “Legend Pro $9.99 /month” with no toggle at all, and it is the number most AI answers and several ranking reviews repeat as the monthly price. InstantDM’s own Shopify App Store listing is clearer, with “$12 / month or $120/year” for Legend Pro and “$29.99 / month or $299.99/year” for Trendsetter.

At the pricing page’s rates, yearly billing saves $24.12 a year on Legend Pro (16.8%) and $60 on Trendsetter (16.7%), close to the “2 Months Free” label. Just read every $9.99 you see as a yearly commitment of about $120.

How InstantDM Meters You: Hourly Caps on One Account, Credits on Several

InstantDM runs two billing models. The single-account plans sell unlimited automations with an hourly pacing cap, and the multi-account plans give each connected account a monthly credit allowance.

So “unlimited” on Legend Pro means unlimited per month, at up to a set number per hour. On Legend Pro, a Reel that pulls a thousand comments in its first hour cannot answer them all in that hour. The API docs add that Meta’s own rate limits also apply, and whichever limit is reached first stops the automation.

Hourly caps and monthly credits are two of the three common ways DM tools meter you. The third counts people: Manychat bills per active contact, and Blotato meters its DM automation by active contacts too, at 1,000 a month on Starter.

PlanBilling modelLimit on the pricing pageLimit in InstantDM’s guide
Legend ProHourly capUnlimited (750/hr)Unlimited (800/hour rate limit)

Multi StarterMonthly creditsNot listed30,000 per account per month
Multi ProMonthly creditsNot listed300,000 per account per month
Multi UltraMonthly creditsNot listed500,000 per account per month

The two surfaces disagree on both single-account plans the pricing page lists. It says 750 an hour on Legend Pro, while the how-to guide and the Shopify listing say 800. The pricing page calls Trendsetter “Truly Unlimited,” while the guide and the API docs cite 2,000 an hour.

InstantDM’s own guide: Legend Pro at 800 an hour, with no Flow Editor and no API.

The API documentation adds a detail that matters for any automation built on top: “Webhook rate limits are shared with DM sends. If you’ve hit your DM rate limit, webhooks will also be skipped.” A busy hour can skip the webhook events your downstream workflows depend on, and the docs say those are not retried.

The Free Plan the Pricing Page Leaves Out

InstantDM does run a free plan. The pricing page just does not show it. The Free card and the Free column of the comparison table both sit inside HTML comments in the page source, so they never render.

The allowance is described inconsistently, in different units and one different number:

  • 500 credits a month on the homepage.
  • 500 automations a month on the alternatives page and dozens of comparison pages.
  • 500 DMs a month on InstantDM’s free-tool pages.
  • 1,500 automations a month on the Shopify App Store listing.
  • “Limited automations” in the how-to guide, which also lists no API, no Flow Editor, and one Instagram account.

InstantDM’s own blog describes what happens at the cap: “When you hit 500, automations pause until the calendar month resets. There’s no notification when you’re close to the limit and no grace period when you hit it.” Fair for a free plan, and worth knowing before you test a Reel you expect to travel.

Legend Pro, the Plan Most People Start On

Legend Pro is the plan the pricing page highlights as “Most Popular.” It covers DM automation on Instagram and Facebook, with follow-for-link, email and phone capture in the DM, custom questions, and AI comment replies.

Two things on the page do not line up. The Legend Pro card lists “Unlimited Contacts,” while the comparison table on the same page lists “Access to Contacts: Limited” for Legend Pro and “Unlimited” for Trendsetter. InstantDM does not publish what “Limited” means in numbers, so ask before you plan a large list around it.

The guide marks API access unavailable on Legend Pro, and it marks the Flow Editor unavailable too, while the pricing page lists “Custom Flows: Unlimited” on both plans. For a creator who sets up keyword replies in the dashboard, that is fine. For anyone planning to drive InstantDM from Claude, Legend Pro is not the plan.

Trendsetter and Trendsetter Pro

Trendsetter is where the API and webhooks switch on. The API docs are explicit: every action “requires an API-eligible plan (Trendsetter or higher),” and requests from other plans return a 403 with upgrade_required: true, though InstantDM’s webhooks guide lists the same case as a 402. The pricing card also adds advanced dashboards and an account-safety mode.

At $29.99 a month, Trendsetter costs about 2.5 times Legend Pro, and the ratio holds on yearly billing too ($24.99 against $9.99). That multiple is what an agent-driven setup costs on one account at the prices the page lists.

Trendsetter Pro roughly doubles it again, at $59.99 a month or $49.99 billed yearly. The guide lists no hourly limit, priority processing, and a smart-slowdown mode. The API error table is less generous, since its 429 message cites a Trendsetter Pro ceiling of 20,000 an hour. Treat it as a very high cap rather than none.

The Multi Plans, Where the Cheapest API Access Sits

The three multi-account plans are the part of InstantDM pricing that none of the pages ranking for it mention. They run on monthly credits per account, and InstantDM’s webhooks guide lists API access on all three, alongside Trendsetter and Trendsetter Pro. The API docs list them too.

InstantDM's how-to guide showing the Multi Account Plans table, with Multi Starter at 15 dollars a month for 3 accounts, 30,000 automations per account per month, and API access included
InstantDM's how-to guide showing the Multi Account Plans table, with Multi Starter at 15 dollars a month for 3 accounts, 30,000 automations per account per month, and API access included

Multi Starter: 3 accounts, credit-based, API included, and absent from the pricing page.

Run the numbers and Multi Starter is the cheapest documented way to get InstantDM’s API, at $5 per account per month when all three are used. It also carries the smallest yearly discount of any plan, 6.7%, against roughly 16% to 17% everywhere else. The plan itself is documented across InstantDM’s docs, but its price appears only in the how-to guide, so confirm it at checkout.

Credits on these plans can be topped up. The guide lists packs from $5 for 1,000 credits up to $349 for 1,000,000, and says top-up credits “do not expire at the end of the month.” Running out mid-month returns a 402 Insufficient credits error from the API.

One caution on the prices in this section: the how-to guide is the only page that prices these plans, and its yearly rates are not always right. It lists Trendsetter at “$10/month billed yearly” against $24.99 on the pricing page, so confirm the yearly price of any unlisted plan at checkout.

What InstantDM Costs at 1, 3, 10 and 20 Accounts

This table uses the cheapest plan InstantDM documents for each need, on both billing periods.

What you needCheapest documented planMonthlyYearly, per monthPer year
1 account, no APILegend Pro$12$9.99$119.88
1 account, API on the pricing pageTrendsetter$29.99$24.99$299.88
1 to 3 accounts, APIMulti Starter$15$14$168
1 account, API, highest hourly capTrendsetter Pro$59.99$49.99$599.88
4 to 10 accounts, APIMulti Pro$99$83$996
11 to 20 accounts, APIMulti Ultra$199$166$1,992

The first big jump sits at the fourth account, and the second at the eleventh. Three accounts on Multi Starter cost $15, and a fourth moves you to Multi Pro at $99, which works out to $24.75 per account at four accounts. At 10 accounts Multi Pro drops to $9.90 each, and Multi Ultra lands at $9.95 each at 20.

Multi Starter is not a strict upgrade over Trendsetter, though. Trendsetter paces you by the hour with no monthly count, while Multi Starter gives each account 30,000 automations a month. For most creators that is plenty, but a viral month on a credit plan ends in a 402 error until you top up, upgrade or wait for the monthly reset.

What InstantDM’s AI and MCP Server Do

InstantDM’s AI replies are included on both plans in the pricing table (“AI Comment Reply”), and its AI Agents are described as “powered by ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini” to answer questions, qualify leads, and reply to DMs and comments. The guide adds that AI Reply nodes in the Flow Editor run on your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, so that model usage bills to you through those providers.

The MCP server is the part that matters for an agent builder. Listing its tools today returned 23, while the MCP page and the API docs both say 22. The billing rule: “Reading anything is free. Sending a message or publishing a post costs 1 credit.” One exception is worth knowing, since trigger_flow can send several messages and each one costs credits.

The MCP page says the 7-day trial includes API access. The Free plan and Legend Pro do not.

Three limits matter more than the tool count:

  • No tool creates or edits an automation. trigger_flow starts “a pre-built InstantDM automation flow,” and disable_automation pauses every automation on the account. The flows themselves are built in the dashboard.
  • Publishing is Instagram only, and immediate. create_post publishes “to the connected Instagram account RIGHT NOW,” with no scheduling parameter. The Facebook tools list, reply and send Messenger messages.
  • Single-account plans have no published credit count. The MCP page says sends bill “the same billing your automations already use,” but Legend Pro and Trendsetter are described only by hourly caps.

What No InstantDM Plan Includes

  • Publishing to other networks. The guide names Facebook and Instagram as the platforms on the plans that list one, and the MCP server publishes to Instagram only. The dashboard schedules Instagram posts, Reels and carousels, and its help page lists that scheduler for Trendsetter and above and all Multi plans.
  • Refunds. The refund policy says all subscription payments “are final and non-refundable.”
  • Webhook retries. The API docs list “Retries: None (fire-and-forget),” so an endpoint that is down misses the event.

When InstantDM Pricing Fits, and When It Pinches

When it fits:

  • You run one Instagram account, you want keyword-to-DM replies, and you build the flows yourself. Legend Pro at $12 a month is a low price for that job.
  • You manage up to three Instagram accounts and want API access. Multi Starter at $15 is the lowest per-account price InstantDM documents, once you confirm that price at checkout.
  • Your DM volume spikes hard on single Reels and you want the highest hourly ceiling. Trendsetter Pro exists for that.

When it pinches:

  • You want the agent to build or change the automations, not only trigger them. Several DM tools do expose that write access.
  • You need to schedule posts from the API, or publish anywhere past Instagram.
  • You want a price for the plan you will actually need printed where you buy it.

None of that makes InstantDM a poor buy. It is a DM tool priced for DM work.

InstantDM Next to Other DM Automation Pricing

Two limits on Blotato’s DM automation belong in this comparison before its price does. Each automation sends one main DM with up to three link buttons, plus a follow or email prompt if you add a gate, rather than a multi-step flow. Once you pass your plan’s monthly active contacts, a send to a new person fails with error 20101. My own role there is creator and tester, which is why those limits come first.

ToolCheapest paid tierWhat you get at entry
InstantDM Legend Pro$12/mo, or $9.99/mo billed yearly1 Instagram account, 750 automations an hour, no API
Manychat Essential$17/mo, or $14/mo billed yearly250 active contacts, API starts on Pro
LinkDM Pro$19/mo, or $182/yr billed yearly3 Instagram accounts, up to 25,000 DMs a month
Blotato Starter$29/mo20 social accounts, 1,000 active contacts a month (DMs and comment replies) on Instagram and Facebook, API included

These are entry tiers. On InstantDM and Manychat the API sits one tier up, at $29.99 and $39 a month, unless InstantDM’s guide-priced Multi Starter at $15, with its monthly credit cap, fits your volume. For one account, InstantDM is the cheapest entry in this table.

Manychat meters on people rather than hours, which I break down in what Manychat charges per active contact. LinkDM meters on DMs sent, with its own credit ladder past the 25,000 mark.

Where I Would Start With InstantDM

Start by writing down the plan your setup needs, not the plan the card shows. If you run keyword replies from the dashboard on one account, Legend Pro at $12 a month does the job, and yearly billing takes it to $9.99.

If Claude or another agent will run InstantDM, you are shopping Trendsetter or a Multi plan. Ask about Multi Starter first, since its guide-listed $15 undercuts Trendsetter by about half, and confirm that price at checkout. Then decide whether an hourly cap or a monthly credit pool fits the way your posts spike.

If your agent also has to schedule the posts that bring those DMs in, across more than Instagram, price that job too. One Blotato key covers both jobs on Starter at $29 a month. The agent builds and edits the comment-to-DM automations itself, keyword triggers and follow or email gates included, which I walk through in automating Instagram DMs from Claude. Its trial excludes the API, so plan on starting the subscription if the agent path is the point.

InstantDM Pricing FAQs

Is InstantDM free?

Yes, with a catch. InstantDM runs a free plan advertised at 500 a month, though its own pages count that as credits, automations or DMs, and its Shopify listing says 1,500. The free plan is hidden on the pricing page, excludes the API, and pauses sends at the cap until the month resets.

How much does InstantDM cost per month?

Legend Pro is $12 a month, or $9.99 billed yearly, and Trendsetter is $29.99, or $24.99 billed yearly. InstantDM’s how-to guide prices four more plans, from $15 to $199 a month, that the pricing page does not show.

Which InstantDM plan includes API access?

The API docs say every action needs “Trendsetter or higher.” On the pricing page, that means Trendsetter at $29.99 a month. InstantDM’s webhooks guide also lists API access on Trendsetter Pro and all three Multi plans. The cheapest of those is Multi Starter, which the how-to guide prices at $15 a month for up to three accounts.

What is the difference between Legend Pro and Trendsetter?

Trendsetter adds API access, webhooks and a higher hourly cap: 2,000 an hour against 800 in the guide, or “Truly Unlimited” against 750 on the pricing page. It costs about 2.5 times as much on either billing period.

Does InstantDM have a free trial?

Yes. The pricing page offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card required. InstantDM’s MCP page says the trial includes API and MCP access. Its refund policy says any subscription payment is final, so test what you need inside the seven days.

Is InstantDM cheaper than Manychat?

For one Instagram account, usually yes. Legend Pro is $12 a month against $17 for Manychat Essential, and InstantDM does not meter you by contacts. Manychat’s API starts on Pro at $39 a month, while InstantDM’s cheapest documented API plan is Multi Starter at $15, or Trendsetter at $29.99 on the pricing page.
