    HOW IT WORKS

    From draft to styled post

    1. Type your text

A post opener or a chat message.

    2. Choose the output

Fonts for posts, Chat for messages on a computer, Plain text to undo a style.

    3. Paste into Facebook

Into a post, or a chat on a computer.

    PICKING A STYLE

Which bold to use on Facebook

Sans Bold is the cleanest pick for a hook line, and it styles digits, so a date or price stays bold. Bold, the serif version, reads more formal.

Keep it to the hook line. The post preview tool estimates where Facebook's desktop See more cut falls.

    WHERE EACH ONE WORKS

Facebook fonts in posts, names and chat

    WhereWhat works
Profile nameUse your everyday name, unstyled. Facebook's name rules don't allow symbols, unusual capitalization, or characters from multiple languages.
Page nameKeep it plain. Page names can't include symbols or improper capitalization.
Group posts on a computerFacebook's own menu: highlight text for bold, italics, headers, quotes and lists.
Chat on a computerFacebook's own *bold*, _italic_, ~strikethrough~, `monospace` and code blocks. Not shown in the Messenger mobile app.
PostsUnicode fonts paste in as ordinary characters, and public Facebook posts already use the bold letters. Each reader's device draws them, so check on your phone.

    FAQ

    Facebook font questions

01 Does it cost anything, and do you see what I type?
No and no. There is no signup or usage cap. Your text is converted in your browser and never sent to a Blotato server, and the tool is hidden from the site's session recordings.
02 How do I change the font on Facebook?
We found no typeface setting in Facebook's Help Center, so change the letters instead: type your text above, copy a style from the Fonts tab, and paste it into your post. Your phone's text size setting only enlarges your own screen, Facebook's Help Center says, and browser zoom works the same way on a computer.
03 Can I use a fancy font in my Facebook name?
Not within Facebook's name rules as we read them. They ask for the name you use in everyday life and do not allow symbols, unusual capitalization, or characters from multiple languages. Keep your profile name plain and save the styling for posts.
04 What about a Facebook Page name?
Keep it plain too. Facebook's Page name guidelines rule out symbols and improper capitalization, so style what the Page posts instead.
05 How do I make bold text in a Facebook post?
Type the line, click Sans Bold in the Fonts tab, and paste it into your post. In a group post on a computer, Facebook's own formatting menu also does bold.
06 How do I underline text on Facebook?
Copy Underline or Double Underline from the Fonts tab and paste it into your post. Neither Facebook's chat formats nor its group post menu include underline.
07 Does Facebook have its own text formatting?
In two places, both on a computer. Chat takes *bold*, _italic_, ~strikethrough~, `monospace` and code blocks, which the Messenger mobile app does not show. Group posts get a menu for bold, italics, headers, quotes and lists.
08 Will styled text lower my Facebook reach?
We found nothing Facebook has published on that. Accessibility is the clearer risk: screen readers can skip styled letters or read them oddly, so style one hook line.
09 Why does my Facebook text show as boxes?
The reader's phone or computer has no font for that character, so it draws a box in its place. This tool skips the 24 unassigned slots in Unicode's math alphabet, which show as boxes on every device, so any box left is down to the reader's fonts.
10 How do I turn fancy text back into normal text?
Paste it into the box and open the Plain text tab. Every style except Upside Down turns back into ordinary letters, though Small Caps, Bubble Filled and the square styles lose their letter case.
