Turn a YouTube video into AI-ready Markdown
Drop in a video link and get one clean Markdown file: title, source link, readable paragraphs, no timestamp noise. Built for feeding video content to Claude, ChatGPT, or the coding agent that runs your content workflow.
Your context file is ready
Save the file into your project, then give your agent this instruction:
Read the attached video transcript. Draft platform-native social posts from its strongest points, ask for my approval, then publish through Blotato. Three steps from video to context file
- 1
Drop in the link
Paste any YouTube URL. The tool fetches the caption track plus the video title and channel for the source header.
- 2
It cleans the captions
Timestamps and [Music] cues are stripped, filler removed, and hundreds of caption fragments merged into readable paragraphs.
- 3
Hand it to your agent
Copy or download the Markdown with its source header and token estimate, then drop it into Claude, ChatGPT, or your agent's working folder.
One box, and a fallback that never dead-ends
YouTube blocks automated transcript fetches from data-center IPs, so no URL-based converter succeeds on every attempt. Other tools hit that wall and hide it: they break without warning, cap free use at a few videos a day, or push you to install a browser extension.
This tool fetches first and falls back honestly. If YouTube declines a fetch, the page opens a paste box: copy the transcript from the video's Show transcript panel, paste it, and the same cleanup runs in your browser. About ten extra seconds, and it works on any video that has a transcript.
Fetch or paste, the conversion is the same: hundreds of two-second caption fragments in lowercase, with stray [Music] tags scattered through them, turned into a document a model can actually read. That is the part this tool does for you.
From raw captions to clean context
- Fetches from a link: drop in a YouTube URL and the tool pulls the caption track, video title, and channel name for you.
- Detects pasted formats automatically: a YouTube transcript-panel paste, an SRT file, a VTT file, or plain text.
- Strips caption noise: per-line timestamps, [Music] and [Applause] cues, styling tags, and the duplicated lines auto-captions love to repeat.
- Removes filler words: um, uh, and stuttered word repeats, with a toggle if you want the transcript verbatim.
- Rebuilds paragraphs: caption fragments are merged into readable paragraphs, with an optional timestamp marker on each one so your agent can cite a moment in the video.
- Adds attribution: a source header with the video title, channel, and link, so the quote your agent lifts still points back to the creator.
- Counts tokens: a rough token estimate on every result, so you know roughly how much context window the file will take up before you paste it.
The Markdown file is step one of a content pipeline
A clean transcript is the raw material for almost every video repurposing job: summaries, quote pulls, hook mining, and full platform-native posts. If you run that work through an agent, the Markdown file from this tool is the context you hand it, and the pattern for what happens next is in our guide to building a content pipeline with Claude Code.
The publishing half is what Blotato handles: your agent drafts from the transcript, then posts to 9 platforms through one API and MCP server instead of one integration per network. If you would rather start from ready-made pieces, the free Claude skills pack includes a repurpose skill built for exactly this input, and our roundup of AI content repurposing tools compares the rest of the field.
