Blotato vs Manychat is a comparison I could not have written six months ago, because until this month the two tools barely touched.
Manychat runs conversations. Someone comments a keyword, they get a DM, the DM carries your link. Blotato ran the other half: writing the posts, making the images and videos, publishing them across nine platforms.
That changed on August 6, when we shipped DM automations. The keyword-to-DM flow now runs inside Blotato too, on Instagram and Facebook. So the question is no longer “which one,” it is whether the overlap covers what you actually use Manychat for.
For a lot of people it will not. I want to be specific about who.
Blotato vs Manychat: At a Glance
Manychat is the better pick if: conversations are the product. You run high-volume DM funnels, you need WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram or email in the same flow, and you want a visual builder for multi-step conversations rather than a single keyword rule. It also gets cheaper than Blotato as raw DM volume climbs.
Blotato is the better pick if: the DM funnel is one piece of a larger account you are running, and you would rather your agent publish the post, reply to the comments, and send the DM behind one key. The Blotato plans start at $29 a month.
The Overlap Is Narrower Than the Headline Suggests
Mostly not, and the overlap is narrower than the headline suggests.
Manychat is a chat marketing platform. Almost everything it does starts with an inbound message: a comment, a DM, a story reply. It cannot post to a social feed. That is not a gap in the product, it is the product boundary.
Blotato is agent infrastructure for social media marketing. One API key covers publishing to nine platforms, plus comments, plus the inbox, plus analytics, plus the DM automations we just shipped.
The overlap is narrow: keyword-triggered DM automation on Instagram and Facebook, and the messaging plumbing under it. Everything Manychat does on WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram and email sits outside it. Everything Blotato does upstream of the conversation sits outside it too.
If you are using Manychat for a WhatsApp funnel, this comparison ends here and the answer is Manychat.
Businesses Whose Revenue Runs Through DMs
Manychat is built for creators and social-first businesses whose revenue runs through the inbox. It has been at this since 2015, it is an official Meta partner, and it says it serves over a million creators and brands.
The flow builder is the reason people stay. You start from a comment or message trigger and build the conversation out visually from there, handing off to a human in the shared inbox when it needs one. The whole thing is built so a non-technical marketer can ship a working funnel without writing code, and after a decade of iteration it shows.
Channel coverage is the other reason. Manychat runs Instagram, Facebook Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS and email. Nothing in Blotato touches five of those seven.
Two caveats before you buy. Its Trustpilot score sits in the “Poor” band. Billing is the most common complaint, though account suspensions and automations quietly failing come up too, so read a page of the one-star reviews before you commit. And Manychat AI is still labeled beta in their own docs, with the AI Replies, AI Comments and AI Goals set available on Instagram only. It is tied to Pro and above, though Manychat’s own surfaces are inconsistent about whether it is bundled into the plan or a separately enabled add-on, so confirm it on your subscription page rather than from the pricing card.
Businesses Whose Revenue Runs Through the Feed
Blotato is an app I built, so take my read on it with whatever grain of salt feels right.
I built it for the person whose agent is running the whole account, not one funnel. You hand it a topic, it writes the post, generates the image or the faceless video, publishes to nine platforms, then reads the comments and answers the DMs. Most of my highest-retention users are running it through Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cowork rather than clicking around the web app.
The DM automations shipped on August 6. There are two triggers, comment-received and message-received, both with case-insensitive whole-word keyword matching. A message body holds up to 640 characters plus three link buttons. It is reply-only by design: an automation answers people who comment or message first, and there is no cold outreach path.
Meta’s windows apply to us the same way they apply to Manychat. One private reply per comment within seven days, and DMs within 24 hours of the person’s last message. Those limits come from the platform, not the vendor, so design your flow around them.

Two rows do most of the work here. Manychat wins messaging channels seven to two, and Blotato is the only one of the two that can put a post on a feed. If flow depth, inbox workflow or team handoff matter to you, weigh those rows just as heavily.
Five Channels and a Deeper Flow Builder
1. Five channels Blotato does not have. WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram, TikTok and email all run inside Manychat flows. If your funnel lives on WhatsApp, nothing in this post should move you.
2. The flow builder is far deeper than ours. Blotato’s DM automation is keyword in, message out, with up to three link buttons, and that is the whole shape of it. Manychat gives you a visual builder for multi-step conversations, which is a decade of product development we have not done. If your funnel needs to ask a question, read the answer, and route the person differently based on it, that is a Manychat job and it will stay one.
3. It gets cheaper than Blotato as DM volume grows. This is the row I expect people to be surprised by. On Manychat’s pricing, Pro is $39 a month month-to-month and includes 2,500 active contacts. Blotato Starter is $29 and includes 1,000. At high volume the gap widens: Manychat Advanced includes 25,000 contacts for $199, where Blotato Agency includes 15,000 for $499. On pure DM volume, Manychat is the cheaper tool.
4. There is a genuinely free tier. Twenty-five active contacts a month is small, but it is free rather than a countdown, so you can leave a small funnel running on it indefinitely. Blotato has no permanent free plan.
5. A shared inbox with humans in it. Manychat gives your team a real inbox UI with role-based seats, two on Essential and up to ten on Advanced. The free plan is single-user. Blotato exposes conversations through the API for an agent to read and answer, which is a different thing than three people working a queue.
Manychat Has No Publishing Surface, by Design
1. It publishes. Manychat has no publishing, scheduling or calendar surface, by design rather than omission. But it does mean something else is posting your content, and that something else is a second bill and a second integration.
2. One key covers the whole loop. The same key that publishes the post reads the comments on it and sends the DM the comment triggered. The alternative most people run is a publishing tool plus Manychat plus whatever makes the media: three vendors, three auth setups, three bills for one account.
3. The whole surface is hosted and flat-priced behind one key. Publishing, comments, the inbox, analytics and DM automations all sit behind the same key at a price that does not move with your volume. You point an agent at one hosted endpoint and the 35 tools are there, seven of them for DM automations. Manychat’s REST API is real and documented, still labeled beta, and starts on the $39 Pro tier, but it covers conversations only, so publishing remains a second vendor with a second key.
4. Creation is included, not assumed. Blotato generates the post copy, the image, the faceless video and the ElevenLabs voiceover on the same plan. Manychat’s AI writes and improves messages inside a conversation. Neither is better in the abstract. They are aimed at different halves of the account.
Two Tools Metering Contacts Two Different Ways
Both tools meter monthly active contacts, but they do not count them the same way, and you should know which way before you compare the numbers.
Manychat counts a contact when the person interacts with your automation, whether or not you answer. Blotato counts one only when you reply: someone who comments on your post and never gets a response does not consume anything. That difference runs in our favor, so weigh it accordingly. One that runs the other way: a Blotato contact is unique per connected account, so the same person hitting two of your Facebook Pages counts twice.
The billing models diverge too. Manychat charges per contact past your included pool, so the invoice moves with your volume. Blotato caps the pool at each tier and the price does not change until you change tiers.
One thing to check before you compare anything: Manychat shows annual-billed prices by default. The month-to-month numbers are higher, and those are the ones below.

Manychat’s overage rate improves as you climb: $0.10 per contact on Essential, $0.05 on Pro, $0.025 on Business, $0.004 on Advanced. A low tier carrying heavy volume is the expensive combination, which is why the recurring cost complaint is about growth rather than the sticker price. I ran that math out at every volume level in a full breakdown of Manychat pricing, including the three points where staying put costs more than upgrading.
Now the part that matters, which is what each entry tier gets you:

Read that table in both directions. Blotato Starter costs $12 a month more and adds publishing, AI creation, an API and an MCP server, none of which Manychat sells at any tier. Manychat Essential costs less and gives you a multi-step flow builder, a shared inbox and your pick of channels, none of which Blotato has at any tier. Which $12 matters depends entirely on whether your bottleneck is making content or routing conversations.
Five caveats, because the math does not favor us everywhere:
Manychat is cheaper for pure DM volume, and it is not close at the top. Advanced gives you 25,000 contacts for $199. Matching that on Blotato is not possible today, since Agency tops out at 15,000 for $499. If DMs are the whole business, buy Manychat.
The free tier is real. If you are testing whether a comment-to-DM funnel works at all, start on Manychat’s free plan and spend nothing.
Five channels, again. No pricing math fixes the fact that Blotato does not do WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram, TikTok DMs or email.

Our DM automation is one day old and Manychat’s is years old. That is the caveat I would want if I were reading this. Manychat has had a decade to find the edge cases in comment triggers and we shipped ours on August 6. If you have a funnel earning money right now, run ours beside it on a second trigger keyword and keep Manychat until you have watched a full month of your own volume go through it. Maturity is a real feature and we do not have it yet here.
Manychat Is Right When the Reply Starts the Funnel

- You need the post, the image and the video generated, not just delivered
If DMs Are the Business, Use Manychat
If DMs are your business, use Manychat. Five channels we do not touch, a deeper flow builder, and a better price per contact at volume is not a close call, and I would rather you hear that from me than discover it in month two.
What changed this month runs the other direction. Plenty of people were paying for Manychat only to run a keyword-to-DM flow on Instagram, next to a separate publishing tool and a separate video tool. If that is your stack, one key now covers all three.
So count your channels. If the answer is Instagram and Facebook, run ours beside what you already have and compare the combined bill. If WhatsApp is on the list, stay where you are. And if a funnel is making money today, do not cut over to a one-week-old feature on my say-so. Run both, watch a month, then decide. Only if your DM funnel runs on Instagram and Facebook. Blotato shipped keyword-triggered DM automation on August 6, 2026, covering those two platforms with comment and message triggers. Manychat also runs WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram, TikTok and email. If your funnel uses any of those five, Blotato does not replace it.
Does Manychat let you schedule social media posts?
No. Manychat has no publishing, scheduling or content calendar feature. Its Broadcast tool sends messages to contacts who already messaged you, not posts to a feed. Anyone using Manychat is publishing with a second tool.
Is Blotato cheaper than Manychat?
