How to Connect Claude to Social Media
Claude.ai connects to social media through a custom connector. Add Blotato at mcp.blotato.com/mcp under Customize then Connectors, approve the OAuth prompt, and Claude can publish and schedule to nine platforms from the same chat window you already draft in. There is no API key to paste on this surface: Claude.ai authenticates over OAuth.

How to connect Claude.ai to social media
- Connect your social accounts once in Blotato, so the agent never touches a platform credential.
- In Claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors, then the plus button, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Blotato and set the URL to https://mcp.blotato.com/mcp.
- Press Connect and approve access. You must be logged into Blotato in the same browser for the OAuth handshake to complete.

How do I know it worked?
Ask Claude.ai to list your connected accounts. It calls
blotato_list_accounts and returns your platforms, which confirms both the connection and
the authentication in one step. If you see your accounts, setup is done.
What social media accounts do I have connected?
Worth knowing before you rely on it: analytics prompts only return data for X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Bluesky. The other four platforms publish normally but report no metrics yet.
What breaks, and how to fix it
The failure specific to Claude.ai is a connector that shows Connected while every tool call returns an OAuth error. That is not a bad key, it means the Blotato subscription is not active: API access requires a paid plan, so generate a key in Settings then API to activate it. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan there is a second trap, since only a workspace admin can add custom connectors at all.
What is different about Claude.ai
Claude.ai is the only surface here where you cannot fall back to an API key header. Anthropic does document request-header auth for custom connectors, but it is in beta behind early access and the allowed header names are a reviewed allowlist of authorization, x-api-key, and x-auth-token. The header Blotato authenticates with is not on that list, so OAuth is the only path that works today.
Vendor documentation: Claude.ai MCP setup. The handshake it uses is the MCP authorization spec, which Blotato implements in full, including dynamic client registration and PKCE.
